Update . AFC website showing 3-0 default win to all teams playing against Brunei , which make it more confusing....
this will be a dificult task, the withdraw from Brunei, which is actually a scandal 1-2 days before the tournament, will make it not easier...by the day: all goals for Kyrgyzstan (in the 3 matches they played) were scored by a naturalized player from Ghana.....
ReplyDeleteTurkmenistan is beatable enough. It seems they also have some dirty political issue in football. They have loads of quality players playing abroad, like in Russia, Eastern Europe, and Uzbekistan, but they always pick NT squad mostly from just one local club called HTTU, which is not even their league champion. And this time they brought 90% HTTU squad. This is kinda funny, but well, good for us.
ReplyDeleteThe last official matches Turkmenistan had was 2012 VFF Cup in last october in Vietnam. Their squad at that time was also mostly HTTU players and the result was like this.
Turkmenistan 1 - 0 Vietnam
Turkmenistan 4 - 2 Laos
Turkmenistan 0 - 4 South Korea University League Selection
they are beatable of course, we almost beat them last challenge cup....if that stupid mistakes in last few minutes didn't happen...but i guess it will be nevertheless a tough fight..even they don't field their best team. hope our players are in good shape...result vs. vietnam is same than ours....laos is also always tough to play..hope we can use our home advantage with the crowd as 12th player....and maybe (or hopefully) Cambodia can come up with a upset tomorrow (maybe for a draw)...
Deletejonny, i though we were going to be given full 3 points against brunei instead of the other rule regarding uneven number of teams in a group...
ReplyDeleteThat was AFC rule when a group had less teams than another.
ReplyDeleteNow AFC website got a default win of 3-0 against Brunei for all of the teams which makes it even more confusing...
If AFC says so, that must be what we call official. Seems AFC decided to treat it as "forfeit" case, as they didn't withdraw until other group matches started.
DeleteSo now it's all good. If we defeat Cambodia with a solid scoreline, like 3-0 or 4-0, then even if we lose to Turkmenistan we will still stand a strong chance to qualify.
If we get a win vs either cambodia or Turkmenistan we get 6 pts and automatically qualify
ReplyDeleteNah, with 6 points, the goal difference decides the two best runners up. So far, the two best runners up are
DeleteBangladesh 6 points +5 GD
India 6 points +4 GD
So we need to be better than India at least, therefore with 6 points, we should make the GD more than 4 to qualify. With 7 or more points, automatically qualify
Regardless of whatever situations, it will be all good if we defeat both Cambos and Turkmens.
ReplyDeleteLet's take it like this. Turkmens squad is far from their best, and we got almost 100% squad, and we play at home, so this is very good chance to kick Turkmens, one of the strongest contenders, out of the Challenge Cup. Since Tajikistan is already out, that would make only Palestine be a serious obstacle for us to win the Challenge Cup in Maldives. Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan, and home team Maldives can be dark horses, but not big problems. HUUUGE chance to get a ticket to the Asian Cup 2015.
1st of all if it's true that all matches vs brunei are default wins for each country by 3-0 then i think it is fair especially to countries like Bangladesh who won 2 matches and would be out then if another regualtion would be used.
DeleteEven if tajikistan is out i would doubt (in case we qualify, best if turkmenistan would be out as well) that it would be an easy walk for us next year....myanmar is tough to play, kyrgyzstan have naturalized players as well, palestine made big progress with good results.....and we won't have our best squad next year (as i guess the final round will not be on a fifa sanctioned day again)....so we will see and take it step by step....first comes cambodia the turkmenistan.....i wished the final stage would be now this year with us as hosts and that squad available now....
