Football weekend isn’t over yet as two of the toughest clubs in the North Football League battles in a high intensity 3rd Conference Finals today at the Ayala North pitch in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
“All I can say is that tomorrow’s finals will be great. We will play hard and stay focus on the game plan,” said Ceres FC head coach Norman Fegidero.
Fegidero, a known tactician disclosed that they don’t have any point-man player. “We will just play as a team.”
Both the Ceres Transport FC and Dynamic Builders FC were former league champions and archrivals, and were able to notch championship berths after huge semifinal finishes over their respective opponents.
Dynamic Builders, which finished second runner-up last conference, advanced to the finals after ousting defending champion Trimaxi Agro, 3-nil, while Ceres FC blasted Silver Dragon, 6-0, to regain a spot in the finals.
Jaime Poderoso opened Dynamic Builders’ scoring the lone first half goal in the 15th minute and closed a 1-nil lead at the break.
Trimaxi tried to work out their offense in the second half, but the tight Dynamic defense spoiled the former champion’s goal attempts.
With 20 minutes left in the game, Jayson Panhay extended Dynamic’s advantage to 3-nil as Mark Arandilla sealed the victory with the team’s third goal in the 71st minute.
Janrick Soriano and Garret Parcon scored two goals apiece to anchor Ceres FC’s demolition over the young Silver Dragon FC.
The Fegidero-mentored Ceres FC showed dominance of the entire game with midfielder Arvin Villaruel sending the ball at the back of the net in the early three minutes of play, while Aaron Amantillo quickly doubled the lead in the 11th minute.
Three minutes later, Soriano struck Ceres’ third goal as Parcon added another 10 minutes later to end the first half in a commanding 4-nil advantage
In the second half, Ceres’ defense remained compact as they denied Silver Dragons the offensive lanes.
Parcon then found his shot at goal in the 57th minute for his team’s fifth goal as Soriano sealed the game with his second and Ceres’ final goal in the 60th minute.
On the other hand, the league’s Annual Draft is also set tomorrow at the Dugout after the awarding ceremony./
