AFC U-16 Women : Hosts hit for six
Manila: The Philippines chances of qualifying for the AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2013 ended on Wednesday when the Group D hosts went down to a 6-1 defeat to Thailand.
Sojirat Pradidsorn opened the scoring in the 6th minute and added the second of her hat-trick seven minutes later as the Thais made a flying start to the match at the Rizal Memorial Track and Football Stadium.
Michaela Adriano pulled one back for the Philippines in the 24th minute but the Thais quickly regained the upperhand with goals from skipper Sudarat Chuchuen (35th) and Tuangporn Yakaewla (38th) giving Thailand a comfortable 4-1 lead at the break.
Sojirat sealed her hat-trick with ten minutes left to play and there was still time for substitute Passanan Thong-Im, who replaced Sudarat on the hour-mark, to make it 5-1 with four minutes left to play.
Thailand will now take on neighbours Myanmar on Sunday to see who qualifies to the AFC U-16 Women's Championship finals alongside Australia, who booked their place at the tournament proper earlier at the Rizal Memorial Stadium when they defeated Myanmar 5-1 in their second Group D match.
The qualifying competition sees the fourteen lowest-ranked teams divided into four geographically-based groups with the teams in each centralised group playing in a round-robin league format. The winner and runner-up of each group will qualify for the next year's AFC U-16 Women's Championship finals.
