YOUTH FRIENDLY SET WITH P.I.
PRESS RELEASE – A handful of local youth soccer teams will gain some international experience as they compete against visiting U12 and U14 Claret teams from the Philippines in the 2012 Pacific Asia Youth Invitational beginning May 26 at the Guam Football Association facility in Harmon.
“We are excited to play host to this upcoming friendly youth tournament,” said GFA’s Grace Martinez, soccer tournament coordinator. “This is an exciting opportunity for the youth teams selected to play. We invite the local community to come to GFA to watch the games and to support the teams.”
The top two teams from the U14 division of the Cars Plus Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League spring season, the Wings and the Sidekicks, along with the Strykers have been selected to play in the three-day tournament with the Philippine team. In the opening game of the U14 tournament, the Sidekicks are set to face Claret at 10 a.m. at the turf mini-pitch, with the Strykers and Wings playing against each other in the 11:30 match.
Each team will play each other once and then compete in a play off. The U14 final will be held Monday at 4:30 p.m.
In the U12 tournament, the Wings, Strykers and ASC Islanders will each play the U12 Claret team in a similar format to the U14 division. The final for the U12 tournament will be held Monday at 3 p.m.
