HIGHLY-TOUTED Medvil Football Club of Davao City thrashed Compostela Valley, 5-0, on Sunday at the Provincial Capitol grounds of Comval to sweep all its matches and rule the PFF Suzuki U23 Mindanao Championships-Southern Mindanao Qualifying.
The Ramonito "Lalas" Carreon-coached Medvil, representing Davao Football Association, thus, advanced to the Mindanao Finals that will also be participated in by champions from Central Mindanao, Northern Mindanao and Western Mindanao.
Jomar M. Acedo (13th minute), Roelfred T. Napuran (25th), Michael Nehemiah T. Simms (27th), Yoshiharu L. Koizumi (35th) and Michael Nehemiah T. Simms (60th) scored for Medvil Davao.
Carreon's wards also edged Comval, 2-1, on their home turf at Tionko field in the home-and-away format bootfest sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation.
It can be recalled that Medvil Davao also swept its two games against Davao del Norte Football Association, 6-1, at Tagum City's E-Park followed up by an 8-0 shutout at Tionko field here.
Carreon thanked team captain Simms for helping the team. The latter will fly back to Manila on Thursday for his commitment as varsity player of the University of the Philippines (UP). Simms and De La Salle University varsity mainstay Derrico Gabriel R. Diamante came home at their own expense to play for the city team. Both players will see action for Medvil when it qualifies to the nationals.
"We are now preparing for the Mindanao qualifying round. Our goal is to win a national finals slot," Carreon told Sun.Star Davao.
The team, managed by Rafael "Pops" Vilela, was also bannered by Dominador G. Tato IV, Roeder Stephen F. Ignacio, Dean Mark Angotas, Sean Clarke P. Labang, Frances Jay S. Abrasaldo, Renz Rhey T. Napuran, Imardino B. Polo, Khadaffy B. Biruar, Roland M. Manabit, Renelle L. Pino, David Angelo R. Diamante, Francis Jay G. Abalunan, Jacinth P. IbaƱez, Michael K. Pantojan, Reymon T. Pareda, Marlon Demapanag, Jerard A. Bierneza, Amani Manuel S. Aguinaldo, Patrick John Asoque, Jestoni R. Felipe, Danilo C. Lascuna Jr. and Mark Paul A. Dayanan with assistant coach Michael Jay Fernandez and goalkeeper coach Alvic Troyo.
