MANILA--Kaya tries to extend its lead at the top of the United Football League when it battles dangerous Stallion at the University of Makati field today.
Kickoff is at 4 p.m. with Kaya looking for its seventh win of the season that will put the LBC-backed side three points clear at the top, regardless of the result of the earlier clash between Global and Air Force.
Kaya is coming off a 3-1 victory over Nomads Wednesday and while the team welcomed collecting maximum points, the players felt like their performance left much to be desired.
“I think we can still play better,” said Kaya midfielder Lexton Moy, who was substituted in the second half.
Air Force and Global open hostilities at 2 p.m. in the first top-flight Saturday double-header since the league took a break late last month because of the AFC Challenge Cup.
The matches will be aired live by AKTV on IBC13.
Air Force and Global--two sides that finished 1-2 in league play last season—meet for the first time since the Airmen’s 2-0 win in the semifinals of the UFL Cup.
Chieffy Caligdong, who missed the last three matches for Air Force because of a knee injury, returns to the side that has won its last three matches.
Without Caligdong, Ian Araneta has held fort for the Airmen with five goals in the last three matches.
But Air Force will have its hands full against Global’s formidable attack line led by national players Angel Guirado and Misagh Bahadoran.
Guirado is coming off an impressive stint in the AFC Challenge Cup where he scored two goals. His older brother, Juani, who scored once in the Challenge Cup, is also in the Global squad which has 15 points, the same tally as Loyola with a game in hand. (PR)
