QUEEN City United will face off with UFL Cup nemesis and Division 2 leaders Pachanga FC in today’s UFL Division 2 match at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
The 2 p.m. match will be aired live over Aksyon TV and the Cebuano team will try to get even for their 4-0 loss to Pachanga in the UFL Cup last year. That match was also aired live.
“We have high hopes and we’ll try to play a decent game. If we cannot go for the win,
we go for the draw,” said head coach Mario Ceniza.
Both teams had a chance to observe each other’s game last week when they won their matches; QCU beat Laos, 2-0, in the first match while Pachanga edged out Dolphins FC, 3-2.
“Last time, it was a different team that played against them. Now, it’s also a new team,” said Ceniza.
Ceniza said they’ve also devised ways to contain Pachanga’s Robert CaƱedo but are prepared for whatever the Nonoy Fegidero-coached squad comes up with.
“Whether they’ll stick to their positions or change it, we have already prepared for it,” said Ceniza.
Pachanga is on top of the standings with 12 points on four win, while CQU is in seventh place with four points.
Ceniza is expected to start with team captain Jan Michael Flores, Hanesin Prince Anthony, Rene Menchavez, Neil Ryan Lerio, Junard Aguilar, Lehmar Baunsit, Bryan Eborda, Marion Cubelo, Adlai Marcel Rivera and Charles Villarta at goal.
The reserves are Ricardo Tabares, Mark Hilay, Frederick Isic, Christian Joy Delan, Rommel Cuizon, Dan Villarico, Julius Acre and Benedict Arriola.
Meanwhile, in Division 1, the Stallions will go for the lead when they take on the Green Archers at 4 p.m. The Stallions have 10 points and trail Loyola, which has 12 points.
