QUEEN City United rose from the ashes as it upset Laos FC, 2-0, yesterday on the University of Makati football field to finally nail its first win in the United Football League.
This is QCU’s first victory in three outings.
"Dako ni siya na victory on our part. Lahi ra ang feeling mudaog against a good team," said head coach Mario Ceniza.
An own goal gave QCU its first point of the game after a kick from Junard Aguilar bounced on the defender and went in the goal as the keeper was out of position.
The second goal was made in the second half from Dan Villarico’s cross, which was converted by Rommel Cuizon.
The team showed an improved performance on a regular pitch compare to the artificial turf.
"Muprefer sila ug dako na field kay pareho sa among practisan sa Cebu," said Ceniza.
The comeback of Lehmar Baunsit and Ryan Lerio also helped boost the team.
"We hope this will be a good motivation and a boost of confidence for the players," said Ceniza.
Next week, they will face Pachanga team, which has three foreign players and Junjun Fegidero in the lineup.
With its first win, Cebu Queen City United FC jumped to the middle of the pack with four points good for seventh place.
Diliman, which drew Queen City in its opening match, leads Division 2 with 10 points, while Pachanga is tied at second with Forza with nine points. Team Socceroo FC is fourth with seven, while Laos is fifth with six points.
Agila, which overcame a 1-0 deficit to beat Queen City last week, 2-1, also has six points.
