UNITED Football League defending champions Philippine Air Force Phoenix is on the lookout for possible members of the squad.
Some members of the team trooped down to Cebu to beef up Erco FC in the 9th Thirsty Cup Football Festival last weekend.
"We are not only players for our team but we are players for our countrymen," said one of the team officials, who doesn't want to be identified.
The team’s aim is to develop local talents who have the passion for football.
With most of its members already getting older, the team is planning to invite young players for the squad.
They are looking for goalkeepers and strikers who can reinforce the squad.
In their short stay in Cebu, they have already spotted some players.
The team had already scouted for potential players from the last Thirsty Cup.
They also were able to observe some players in yesterday’s exhibition game from University of Cebu and Erco FC.
Their priority is to look for young players whom they can bring to Manila to try out before the team. As of now, they alredy have the list of players who they will present before the team for consultation."We are not just teammates,we are also a family," said the official.
The team is also willing to train coaches to give them a better grip on how to assess football matches.
PAF players Yanti Barsales, Martin Doctora, Tats Mercado and Joeme Tolosa conducted a clinic for Don Bosco elementary and secondary players yesterday and also played an exhibition match with the college team.
The PAF mainstays also competed in the Thirsty Cup for Erco FC, where they won the 36-Above category by beating Rising Sun in the final.
