QUEEN City United-A is off to a good start after winning its second straight match in the 14th Aboitiz Cup at the Aboitiz Sportsfield yesterday.
The team, which is preparing for the second division of the United Football League, crushed Erco FC, 6-0, in the men’s open. Queen City also blanked Don Bosco United FC, 6-0, during its debut.
In the first half, team captain Jan Michael Flores, who finally got the clearance to play in the Aboitiz Cup, banked in a goal in the 19th, while Marion Cubelo doubled the lead in the 44th minute.
Junard Aguilar scored in the 64th minute and new signee Dan Villarico contributed two goals in the 70th and 85th minutes. Ryan Lirio also got in the scoring act in the 74th minute.
Sister team Queen City B also kicked off the tournament with a good start after blanking Uptown United, 6-0, while Queen City A will go for its third win against Sumaba FC next week.
In the other matches, Don Bosco United routed Southwestern University, 4-1, while Subangdaku FC routed Sumaba FC, 9-1.
