MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Azkals will be gunning for a victory when they take on major league soccer team LA Galaxy in a friendly at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on December 3.
Team manager Dan Palami assured Azkals fans that the team will not be "star-struck" when they play against stars such as David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane.
"We're going to play against them to win," Palami said.
He added that for some of the Azkals, this will not be the first time that they will play against high-profile football players.
"Some of them have played against big name players already, in the Champions League," he explained.
Palami is confident that the Philippine national football team can give the Galaxy a competitive match and hopefully make a statement.
"We want to prove to the Philippines and to the world that we could give a team such as LA Galaxy stiff competition," he said. "This will pave the way for other teams to come here, knowing that they will be challenged properly."

ReplyDeletei don't think our euro-based players will be available for this. it's only an exhibition game. im ready for a more local azkals.
The LA Galaxy is a professional team with players who have world cup experience. The Azkals and U23 teams lose to Japanese college and high school teams. I am glad Dan is enthusiastic. I hope both teams enjoy the games. If the Azkals start going in with hard tackles to "make a statement" nobody will come to play them.
