The Philippine National Men’s Football Team Azkals will have their strength tested tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. when they battle against the Global Teknika FC, champion in the PFF Smart Club Smart Championships, at the Panaad pitch.
The game against Global will be a grudge match of sorts for brothers James and Phil Younghusband against the Teknika squad that beat their Rizal-Smart San Beda FC team in the finals of the PFF Smart Club Smart tournament held in Manila last month.
The Teknika team is known for its solid defense with key defender key defender Badreldin Elhabbib and an array of scoring options led by ace striker Misagh Bahadoran and Africans Aye Arye Nil and Izzeldin Elhabbib.
Meanwhile, Azkals coach Hans Michael Weiss said the team has gone through some phases since the last time they played in the World Cup qualifiers against Mongolia, Myanmar and Kuwait.
Weiss said they have a young team but the prospects are good with the entire teams having a new perspective and with the infusion of new talents.
The Azkals are also set to play against the PFF Suzuki Cup Under 23 National champion team Ceres – Negros on September 13, 5:30 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium.
To allow all Negrenses to come out and witness the match, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. waived all charges at the Panaad and invited the public to watch the friendly game for free.*NAB
