NOW considered as the region's football mecca for age-group development, the breezy town of Camp Phillips in Bukidnon announced the holding of its annual Del Monte Football Cup.
The keenly-awaited event, entering its sixth year in promoting grassroots football development throughout Bukidnon, will be held on May 21-22 at the Camp Phillips Football grounds.
All events in boys 8-under, boys 9, boys 10, boys 11, boys 12, boys 13, boys 14, boys 15, high school girls, high school boys and girls 13 will be played in 7-aside format.
Medals and trophies will be awarded to the champions and the first and second runners up.
"This annual tournament aims to instill to our young footballers the ideals of teamwork, camaraderie, discipline and sportsmanship. The competition will also be a good test on the skills of the kids while creating beautiful moments of friendship," said DMFC president Marco Deo B. Verdeflor.
He added: "Our venue also offers Bukidnon zips of fresh air with the kind of a pleasant temperature and playing conditions excellent."
For accommodation, Verdeflor said school, gymnasium and houses are available for the visiting teams, even as he encouraged participants to bring with them sleeping bags, mattresses, blanket and pilows for their own convenience.
