THE picture isn’t that bright for Paref-Springdale when it plays in the 10th National Interclub Football Cup today.
Coach Mario Ceniza, who steered the Central Visayas to the silver medal in the Palarong Pambansa, said he isn’t expecting any of his teams to figure prominently in the Boys 17 and 12, and the Players 10 divisions.
“The boys who played in the Palarong Pambansa are from a different age group. With U-17, I only have five key players left and most of my players are new,” Ceniza said. He also added that he is a bit worried because most of his players are still having their vacation.
Today, Springdale will face off with University of San Carlos (USC) North Campus at the USC-TC field, while defending champion Abellana National School Pomeroy takes on Blessed John at 7:30 a.m.
“(Palaro players) Christopher Go and Ramon Borromeo are still in Manila while Iken Ong just arrived yesterday and has confirmed that he will be joining the league,” Ceniza said. The other key player who also confirmed his participation is Robby Medalle.
Also at the USC field, Queen City United will take on Count FC, while defending Aboitiz Football Cup titleholder Crazy Horse battles host USC in the Men’s Open division.
