THE seniors futsal team of Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) will compete for their first championship title in the Women's National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) on Sunday.
EAC will meet last season's first runner-up Philippine Women's University (PWU).
But Coach Leo Rivera of the Ermita-based squad is worried for the championship match as its team captain Kathleen Kipte is bothered by an injury.
“She wouldn't be able to give out a hundred percent because she got injured last Wednesday,” said Rivera.
Kipte, a transferee from Far Eastern University (FEU), is also aiming for the Most Valuable Player award in the seniors division.
The three-year team is preparing for Sunday by training twice a day.
The head coach also expressed his pride for his team that only started out with his Physical Education class students.
“(They are) fast learners that's why their performance development easily,” said Rivera.
EAC defeated defending champion team Miriam College in the semifinals round 3-1. PWU meanwhile won over the Rizal Technological University (RTU) by five goals, 7-2.(Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
