THE defending champions Crazy Horse showed that it is still the most formidable team in the Men’s League of the 12th Aboitiz Football Cup as it demolished San Roque Royal United (SRRU), 7-0, yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports field.
After giving San Roque FC (SRFC) its first loss of the tournament with a 9-1 beating last week, Crazy Horse handed SRRU its third straight loss in the competition.
Epifanio Ynot drew first blood as he scored in the 23rd minute from pointblank range, while out-hustling the SRRU defenders.
Substitute Masahi Koyagi immediately let his presence felt after entering in the second half of regulation with a quick goal in the 49th.
Koyagi struck inside the box, off a well-calculated pass by playmaker Jan Michael Abellana from the right flank.
Three minutes, Abellana created an opportunity for himself, outmaneuvering the SRRU defense with his fancy footwork for 3-0.
After that, there was no stopping the Crazy Horse offense.
Mitsuo Tsunakiri struck in the 65th minute then Koyagi scored his second goal of the game nine minutes after.
Tsunakiri contributed another goal in the 81st minute, Albert Nangkil scored in the 87th minute, while Abellana sealed the victory with a goal a minute before time.
Crazy Horse is still undefeated and sits at the top spot of the Men’s League with six points from two victories, while SRRU is still winless and remains the worst team in the competition.
In the other Men’s League game, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) routed SRFC, 4-1.
SRFC’s Ramie Colina scored the first goal of the match with just 10 minutes off the clock. However USPF bounced back and tied the game, 1-1, with a strike by Rene Sanchez in the 54th minute.
USPF then took over the lead, 2-1, as Oliver Colina added another goal 11 minutes after.
