THREE seeded teams stood out from among over 30 squads who competed in the Executive Village Football Club 7-aside Invitational Football Festival last Saturday at the Panaad Sports & Recreational Park pitch in Barangay Mansilingan.
In the Under-13 category, Barotac Nuevo FC finished as second runner-up, followed by San Carlos City FC as first runner-up while Giuseppi FC-Cebu emerged as champion.
In the Under-16 division, U16 Team Philippines took second runner-up honors, followed by FC de Pontevedra as first runner-up while host Executive Village Football Club went home with the champion’s trophy.
Meanwhile, in the centerpiece Women’s Open category, Foundation University of Dumaguete City finished as second runner-up, followed by U16 Team Philippines while University of St. La Salle Alumnae, mentored by Ronnie Tornilla, pocketed the champion’s trophy.
The champion U13 team from Cebu was mentored by Richard Montayre and named most valuable player of the division was Ann Ugarte.
Named as MVP of the champion U16 team EVFC was Aina Martin while the team was coached by Warren Concepcion assisted by Rinelle De Oca and Junjun Valderama.
The one-day football festival which drew the participation of teams coming from Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Dumaguete, San Carlos as well as other cities and towns in Negros Occidental was witnessed by top officials from Fifa, the world governing body for football.
