“It’s all team effort.”
This was how Dynamic Builders coach Ronald Allan Treyes described their victory over Ceres Football Club on Sunday in the championship match of the first conference of the North Football League at the Ayala North pitch in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Treyes, who called the shots for Dynamic Builders FC during the finals, said they are very happy with the win.
“It was the team’s cooperation, during the clubs’ preparation from the semis to the finals that paid off. And most of all, we gave back the honor and gratitude to the overwhelming support of our team manager, Ricky Yanson, and our families,” he added.
When asked what are the adjustments made after being downed by 1-nil at the break, Treyes stressed, “except for the defensive error in the first half where they made the goal, we have more ball possessions and control in the second half. We also tried to score more goals but only got one.”
During regulation, Dynamic started with couple of attempts on goal forcing tournament “best goalkeeper” and Ceres’ custodian Michael Casas to get busy in the early minutes of the game. But the experienced custodian defended the post well.
But a defensive mess from Dynamic Builders’ defender Allan Alfaro allowed eventual “best striker” awardee Joshua Fegidero to score Ceres’ first goal in the 22nd minute.
Dynamic Builders made several transitions but failed to nail a goal as the Norman Fegidero-mentored Ceres enjoyed the lead, 1-nil.
In the second half, the game got more physical as yellow card after another were slapped on the players from both sides.
And it was in the 58th minute when Dynamic finally earned the fruit of their labor when awarded “best midfielder” Roland Ian Treyes sent the ball off the crowded Ceres defense disappointing keeper Casas.
Treyes’ goal eventually forced both sides to play for another 20 minutes but this didn’t change the scoreboard.
During the penalty shootout, Treyes disclosed that the only thing he told his team is to pray and ask for the win. “We believed that prayer is our only chance. And we are thankful that it was heard.”
In the shootout, Dynamic edged Ceres, 4-3, on “most valuable player” Jayson Panhay’s strike on the left side of the goal as Casas dove towards the right.
BATTLE FOR THIRD
After 90+2 minutes of play, both Trimaxi-Agro FC and Silver Dragons settled with a goal apiece to force a penalty shootout.
Robert Canedo gave the Silver Dragons FC the early lead in the 12th minute of the match to eventually book a 1-nil advantage at the break.
SD’s compact defense continue in the second half until FJ Serios found space in the left flank to send the ball at the back of the net in the 64th minute to equalize the match.
With the time winding down both sides tried to secure the winning goal but stood still after the regulation.
In the penalty shootout, the Renel de Oca-mentored SD edged Eric Gallaga-led Trimaxi, 7-6.
SD scorers included Renz Guevarra, Richard Canedo, Leopoldo Aragon, Marti Malubay, Clarence Fariola, Demi Apacible and Early Bird Martillano.
Meanwhile, Trimaxi scorers are Alejandro Montelibano, Garett Parcon, FJ Serios, Archie Baykin, Ryan Hemida and Aaron Amantillo.
Named “best defender” is Dynamic’s Camelo Tacusalme while Ceres’ Ian Astilla won the “most improved player” as the “Fair Play” award was given to Silver Dragon./
