"In a related development, the PFF has hired Uruguyan-Spanish coach Maor Rozen to handle the national under-19 team which will see action in AFF Championships in Myanmar in September, with Charlie Cojuangco acting as team manager. "
Manila Standard Today
Now this is under the radar. Interesting to know what the basis of selection here is. And the involvement of Charlie Cojuangco. Did he pull his strings and is trying to do a Dan Palami?
ReplyDeleteTry-outs all over Philippines in March.

The PFF try-outs is scheduled for March 24 and 25 . Cebu FA seem also to have had try-outs this week to form a team in the PFF U19 qualifiers ?
ReplyDeleteThe choice of Rozen means that even if McMenemy does not join the Vietnam football team, he will not be hired by the PFF for any of its junior teams as the U-23 team is coached by Coach Weiss and we are officially not joining the AFC U-17 competitions.
ReplyDeleteThat means also that PFF Marianno Araneta was not quite sincere with what he promised=/
ReplyDeletewho cares about mckmenemy
ReplyDeleteI don't think Mariano Araneta promised anything about rehiring McMenemy for any other position. He only said that he wanted to but it was not a promise.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that they got Maor Rozen. Union Manila pulled out of the UFL so now they're taking advantage of a relatively experienced foreign coach.
Apparently we are not joining the AFC U-19 qualifiers next year.

Then why are we forming the above team under a so called Spanish Uruguay coach. Mr Cojuangco, can you clarify why we backed out of the U=20 tournament?
Well i hope he sinks some money into scouting for players and really providing for them in terms of training needs. Lord knows there are a lot of talented youngsters out there who just need the proper support and guidance. A program needs to be worked out in terms of identifying talents, keeping them motivated and continuous work to develop them for the future. The more tournaments organized nationwide the better.
